Newspapers
- Which daily newspapers (if any) do you read? I don't read any
- What sections of newspapers do you turn to first, and why? probably to the first double page spread
- What sections do you never read, and why? I'd most likely not read the text heavy political parts
- What kinds of stories do you usually read and why? I don't read them but usually horror or thriller
- Do you, or someone else, buy the newspaper you read? nope
- Do you look at the online versions of any newspapers? Which newspapers? Why do you visit their website and not others? nope but unless its something that interests me like past events
Magazines
- What magazines (if any) do you buy regularly? Why/why not? I don't read any magazines
- What sections of the magazines do you read and not read, and why?
Television
- Approximately how many hours a week do you spend watching television? I probably spend around 7-10 hrs every week watching
- What device do you use to watch television? I use my phone and also the family TV
- What times of day do you usually watch television? Usually when i come back home from school and sometimes when the TV is free
- What programmes do you like best and why? mostly just youtube because there is a vast variety of things to watch and most of the featured videos are ones that i enjoy.
- Do you watch alone or with others? If you watch with others, who decides what you will watch? Mostly whenever its youtube i watch it alone however whenever its a movie on Netflix I watch it with some of my family and the choice is collective.
- Do you watch 'live' TV or on-demand/catch-up? Do you use any other devices to watch TV (such as laptop or tablet?) No the only live watching experiences I use are for football matches.
Radio
- Do you listen to the radio? not at all
- If yes, what stations do you like best and why?
- Do you listen to podcasts? no
- If yes, what podcasts have you listened to recently?
- Approximately how many hours a week do you spend listening to podcasts or radio? 0 hrs
- What times of the day do you usually listen to podcasts or radio?
- Where do you listen to podcast or radio? for others its usually on the way to work or while they are doing something, it allows there to be background noise.
- What other activities (if any) do you do whilst listening?
- Does anyone else in your house listen to the radio or podcasts? If so, when do they listen? no
Film
- What films have you seen in the cinema in the last month? None however i was planning on see the spider man brand new day movie but we were out of London at the time.
- What films have you seen in other places – for example, through Netflix, Amazon Prime, satellite/cable film channels (free or otherwise) or streaming? countless random movies that are featured on Netflix
- Who else watched the films with you? my family
- Who decided what films to watch? its a collective decision but usually my mum just puts whatever movie she can find.
- What devices do you typically use to watch films: TV, laptop, tablet, phone etc.? Its almost always the Tv
Online
- How often do you access the internet? Everyday, every couple minuets
- Where do you access the internet? At home, at school, commuting etc.When im at home, school, out
- What are the main sites that you access? google
- What are the main reasons for accessing these sites – for example, for information, to make purchases, communicate with friends or for entertainment? For dopamine and also to keep in contact with friends and families.
- What other activities (if any) do you do whilst accessing the internet? I eat, walk, basically do anything while on social media as long as my hands aren't full.
- What different devices do you use to access the internet? What is your primary device for accessing the internet? My phone and laptop
- What social networks do you use regularly (e.g. Twitter, Instagram)? Why do you belong to these networks in particular? TikTok and whatsapp and Youtube
Final section: reflection
- How can you develop the amount and variety of media you consume? Consume a variety of media and nut just the once accessablefrom my phone
- What will you change in your media consumption habits this year as a result of studying A Level Media? I can view some videos in another way, think of why it may be structured in a certain way to influence the audience.
- List three sources of media (websites/newspapers/apps/TV programmes etc.) that you will start to access this year that you haven't engaged with previously. Newspapers, online news organisations, maybe magazines
